The most logical approach to the "salary" question.

Date: 9/30/99

Nick:

I've been employed by the same company for almost 15 years. I have just begun the process of looking for something new, with a better outlook for total compensation. Consequently, I have been doing the resume and interviewing thing for about two months when my job allows.

Your article on Keep Your Salary Under Wraps really hits home. I have been asked for my current salary by 90% of the companies I have talked with. My response has varied, based on different opinions I have read or been suggested to by other headhunters. Your article, however, had the most logical approach I have heard. And, as a hiring manager myself, is exactly how I view salary during the hiring process. Thanks for the info.

Your site is very informative, very valuable. I'm going to buy your book. Also, I'm going to look for the kind of work I want and am good at... not just another job.
