Nick,
I just wanted to drop
you a line about your piece titled How to
Beat The Stress Interview.
I unfortunately had the
experience of facing several of these interviews back-to-back at
several different companies. These were positions I thought I
was more than perfectly suited for. I lost out because I handled
these stress interviews poorly.
I was actually very
young and not very worldly, and I took it all very, very
personally. I had no idea companies conducted interviews like
this. I guess I did not expect the unexpected. Had I read an
article like yours prior to the interviews, looking back at it
now I am confident I would have been offered these positions.
I do think stress
interviews are brutally unfair and awkward to deal with,
especially if the interviewer is a master at them. That makes
for a very unfair playing ground.
I really like your
suggestion of pushing back and saying right out, "I
am not here to jump through your little hoops. I am here to help
solve your company's problems and help improve your
organization."
I just wanted to drop
you a note thanking you for a good article.
